INTRODUCTION  
Your GE Caller ID unit stores and displays specific inform ation, provided by your  
local telephone com pany, to subscribers of Caller ID or sim ilar caller identification  
services. You m ust subscribe to one of these services in order to use this unit.

ERROR MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED  
ERROR appears in the display if the unit detects anything other than valid Caller  
ID inform ation during the silent period after the first ring. This m essage  
indicates either the presence of noise on the line, or that an invalid m essage  
has been sent from the telephone com pany.

CHOOSING A LANGUAGE  
This unit can display the m essage indicators in English, Spanish, or French. When  
you set up your Caller ID unit ENGLISH appears in the display. To select the  
language:

You need an RJ 11 type m odular jack, which is the m ost  
SERVICE

On the bottom of this equipm ent is a label indicating, am ong other inform ation, the FCC Registration num ber  
and Ringer Equivalence Num ber (REN) for the equipm ent. You m ust, upon request, provide this inform ation to  
your telephone com pany.  
The unit can store up to 30 calls for later review. When  
the m em ory is full, a new call autom atically replaces  
the oldest call in m em ory.

The REN is useful in determ ining the num ber of devices you m ay connect to your telephone line and still have  
all of these devices ring when your telephone num ber is called. In m ost (but not all) areas, the sum of the RENs  
of all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certain of the number of devices you may connect  
to your line as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company.

Party lines are subject to state tariffs, and therefore, you m ay not be able to use your own telephone  
equipm ent if you are on a party line. Check with your local telephone com pany.  
Notice m ust be given to the telephone com pany upon perm anent disconnection of your telephone from your  
line.  
If the low battery icon appears in the display, you need  
to replace the batteries. It is im portant that you replace  
the batteries as soon as possible in order to retain the  
inform ation in the Caller ID m em ory.

The exchange unit is under warranty for the rem ainder of the original products warranty  
period.  
Should your equipm ent cause trouble on your line which m ay harm the telephone network, the telephone  
com pany shall, where practicable, notify you that tem porary discontinuance of service m ay be required. Where  
prior notice is not practicable and the circum stances warrant such action, the telephone com pany m ay  
tem porarily discontinue service im m ediately. In case of such tem porary discontinuance, the telephone  
com pany m ust: (1) prom ptly notify you of such tem porary discontinuance; (2) afford you the opportunity to  
correct the situation; and (3) inform you of your right to bring a com plaint to the Com m ission pursuant to  
procedures set forth in Subpart E of Part 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.  
The telephone com pany m ay m ake changes in its com m unications facilities, equipm ent, operations of  
procedures where such action is required in the operation of its business and not inconsistent with FCC Rules  
and Regulations. If these changes are expected to affect the use or perform ance of your telephone equipm ent,

How to m ake a w arranty claim :  
Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the  
product. We recom m end using the original carton and packing m aterials.  
Include in the package evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print your
